Negative T3REs

There are several examples of genes that are negatively regulated by thryroid hormone, particularly those associated with TRH - TSH negative feedback. These T3 repressed genes generally contain one or more binding sites for TR monomers near the transcriptional start site. Despite extensive investigation in a number of laboratories, the mechanism(s) by which these monomer sites or other putative nT3REs exert their effects remain uncertain.
